While I will always recommend deep, inner healing over affirmations, affirmations are a gentle way of starting the inner healing process, making you ready for bigger changes.

😇 Remember affirmations work only when you say them to yourself at least 20-30 times daily (for some with deep-rooted negative beliefs, it may take even more repetitions). Repetition is what brings it to reality. This is also shared by Grand Master Choa Kok Sui. (founder of Pranic Healing, which is an energy healing modality) in his teaching on manifestations, the power of repetitive thought forms, and how repetition strengthens a thought (be it positive or negative).

When you start saying an affirmation daily, notice what subtle changes happen in your thoughts, emotions, mood behavior, and daily decisions. Stick to only 2-3 affirmations a day for a while until you observe the positive changes in your life.

While affirmations do not change the root negative beliefs or traumas, what it does is create changes in your thoughts and lighten them to a great extent. However, it is mechanical in nature – meaning if you forget to use it or skip it on some days, the effect reduces or goes away and you are back to the old negative patterns of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. But it is still useful & effective for those who are starting out spiritual and personal development journeys and who want to keep it light and simple.
